Steve Howell

Steve Howell

Creative Director / Co-founder

A true creative, Steve is the heart of Howoco. He makes sure our ideas are authentic, exhibiting the creativity and insight that we aim for as the hallmark of our work. Before founding Howoco, Steve was Design Director at Wolff Olins, developing brands for BT, Renault, ICI and Vauxhall. He then followed a short spell client-side with BAA with digital projects for Mercedes-Benz, Shell and BT at Rufus Leonard.

Tim Wong

Creative Director/Co-founder

Tim leads our design team, and sets the studio’s design approach. His mix of aesthetic instinct and intellectual curiosity give our design work its strong visual appeal and saliency. A regular commentator on design and culture, most recently as a Daily Telegraph blogger, Tim was a senior designer at Rufus Leonard, creating and developing brand identities for Shell, Smart, BT and the BBC, before leaving to set up Howoco.

Managing Director

Nick runs the business. He’s incredibly energetic, and believes the best way to create success is to make sure everyone’s able to play to their strengths in an environment that’s supportive but challenging. He likes to make sure no-one (clients, team and suppliers included) thinks of work as a 4-letter word. Over fifteen years in the creative industry Nick’s ran accounts for BT, Adidas, Intel, Coca-Cola and Vodafone to name a few.

Gurs heads up our technology team. His calm and pragmatic manner informs our approach to digital. This approach drives the design and construction of the hardworking robust architecture that powers our websites and online tools. Over more than 20 years, Gurs has developed and integrated a wide range of information systems, development platforms and database technologies — from search engines to Facebook apps for National Grid, Shell, O2, English Heritage and BT.
