Imperial War Museum online Cold War exhibition

Imperial War Museum

Imperial War Museum online exhibition

To mark the 20 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the events leading up to the end of the Cold War, we designed and created a rich interactive web exhibition exploring British experiences of the conflict for the Imperial War Museum.

We came up with a design which reflects the themes of the Cold War itself, rooted in notions of secrecy, paranoia and hidden histories. There are multiple points of entry for users, from thematic overviews, to key personal stories. Users can control their own levels of learning, from broad overviews, to in-depth exploration of key themes and topics via audio, video and documents galleries, all under-pinned with clear orientation tools.

The online exhibition was an official Webby Awards Honoree 2010, and is an essential resource for users of all ages in the study of the Cold War.
